Don't Follow your Heart, Follow the Lord
65"I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps." (Jeremiah 10:23)
The way of man is not in himself
Christians are often ridiculed for being followers. They say we're blind. They say we believe whatever we're told. But the truth is, everyone will follow someone, even if that someone is his own heart. But when we follow our own hearts we are led astray.
- "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9)
- "Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire." (James 1:14)
- "Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered." (Proverbs 28:26)

It is not in man who walks to direct his steps
We need guidance. We need direction. Only God knows everything, and in knowing everything, we can fully trust in Him to lead us rightly. This doesn't mean that we consult Him like a fortune teller or use Him like a Ouija Board or Magic 8 Ball, it means we offer up our lives to Him in prayer, and trust that He will direct us.
- "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
- "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
- "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
The way of man is not in himself and it is not in him to direct his own steps. We need Christ. We need His light. We need his direction and purpose. Without Him, we are lost and blind. Trust in Him today to lead you in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" (John 8:12)

"Dont follow your heart, follow the Lord"
A thought provoking, full of divine wisdom, and making the life purposeful by following the message of God and remaining ever thankful to God who provided guidance for mankind.
Human self is of three kinds. One which commands evil. The other that pricks to observe restraint in falling the darkness of evil; and the third that stops doing evil and follows the good and thus becomes the satisfied soul.
The Prophets and Messengers of God, May peace and blessings of God be upon all, did not speak of their own desires. They Spoke what God revealed unto them. Every moment of their lives was under Divine control and vigilance. The fundamental truths are the same every where. Peace is for those who follow the guidance.
We Muslims beleive in Allah and all His angels, all His Books, all His Messengers, and in the Last Day and in the Measure, favourable or adverse both from Allah, the Most High, and in the resurrection after the death.
The names of Injil, Taurat, Zabur are mentioned with much respect in the Holy Qur'an. The names of the Messengers and prophets of God are also mentioned with much respect. The Holy Qur'an testifies the truth contained in the Past Scriptures.
The hub is really thoght provoking and excellent.
